Collection: Bill Cushman

Dr. Bill Cushman is a retired clinical psychologist living in South Florida with his wife, Linda, a soon-to-be-retired public high school language arts teacher. Bill and Linda have one daughter, Joni, who lives in Vermont and teaches music.

Like many, Bill's interest in magic started as a young child, and he found joy performing at children's parties, Scouting Blue & Golds, various service organizations, and a Sunday brunch gig at an upscale family restaurant the summer before leaving for college. As his interest in psychology became more prominent, Bill switched almost exclusively to mentalism.

Over the last several years, Dr. Bill has released over 10 popular e-books full of ideas and routines. As might be expected given his career, many of his effects are of a psychological nature and/or incorporate his knowledge of psychology to enhance the performance of mentalism. At present, his "library" of e-books includes The Witches’ Almanac and Psi-Card (in collaboration with Rick Roth of Outlaw Effects), Mirabill, Mind Index, Suggestabilities, Telephone Bill, RhymeTime Sublime, The Fource, Subliminal Squares, The Drs. Billet Tear, Dr. Bill's Bend, and Trybil: AKA The Multi-Bob Pendulum Book. Of the latter, Bob Cassidy wrote, “I finally had a chance to read Bill’s wonderful work on pendulums. Without a doubt, this is the best work ever written on the subject. I recommend it without reservation to anyone who is serious about this type of work.”

Dr. Bill has also contributed to many important works in the field. You’ll find his essays and effects in Andy Leviss' The 25th Hour, Allen Zingg’s book Expanding Your Powers and Master Billet Course DVDs, Millard Longman’s Mind Reading With Billets: Acidus Novus, Banachek’s Psychological Subtleties 2, Stuart Cumberland’s U.P.R., Kenton Knepper’s Mind Reading Course, Jerome Finley’s Thought Veil, Anthony Jacquin’s The Trilby Connection, Paul Romhany’s Mental Epic Compendium, the Mentalism Charity Project produced by ParaLabs, Secret Impressions, and Psycrecy, the journal for the British Society of Mystery Entertainers. Most recently, Dr. Bill has contributed essays and observations to Phedon Bilek's modern-day classics, Orion and Orpheus.

Last but not least, Dr. Bill is profiled in Volume 4, Issue 23 of Jheff’s Journal of the Mind.
